  *Edit* returned today and it appears there has been some renovation or change of ownership? Maximum of 3 dogs at anytime is a new policy since last going and sadly the chips have gone down hill :-( that being said, the interior has been modernised. Will have to give the full menu a go next time we are back but I suspect they have changed chefs. Not too keen on the new look myself as one of the charms of the place as it was before was the low key casual atmosphere but with outstanding food.
  
  Superb food, dog friendly and great service - perfect! Make sure you give the chips a try, best I have had anywhere else.

  Just had a superb meal at The Smugglers, roast beef, pork and turkey cooked to perfection with a wide choice of vegetables and sweets. Good friendly service. There were nine of us in the party and the verdict was a unanimous 10 out of 10.
  Highly recommended.

  Large portions (with option for a smaller cheaper portion). Excellent quality pub grub. Will definitely be coming back
